Shipping Information

How will my order ship?

Your order will ship either UPS Ground (depending on size) or on a pallet(s) via a 48' - 53' semi-trailer.

Does someone need to be available to accept delivery?

For UPS Ground shipments no one needs to be available. If it ships out via a semi-trailer, then yes, someone will have to be at the location of the delivery to accept, sign, and unload the pallet(s). If someone isn't available at the time of delivery, you will be responsible for any additional re-delivery fees from the carrier.

Who is responsible for unloading my shipment?

If your order is shipping out on a pallet(s), you are responsible for the unloading. Make sure you have enough personnel/staff on hand, and/or equipment to unload. The driver will bring the pallet(s) to the end of the truck/trailer. It is your responsibility to remove them from there.

All LTL shipments will be transported on 48-foot and 53-foot trailers that will include liftgate service for up to 84” skids. Lift gate service cannot handle skids larger than 7’.

It is required that the destination location has a loading dock, equipment, or staff to remove the pallets from the trailer. If your shipment is an FTL, your freight service will not include Driver’s Assistance or a pallet jack. Your staff will be required to receive delivery.

Unloading Time

Unloading time is determined by the actual weight of the shipment:

  • Less than 1,000 lbs. – 15 minutes for unloading
  • 1,000-2,500 lbs – 30 minutes
  • 2,501-5,000 lbs – 60 minutes
  • 5,001-10,000 lbs – 90 minutes
  • 10,001 and over – 120 minutes

*Any time over the allotted free time for unloading will incur detention fees from the freight carrier.

Delivery Hours and Scheduling

Standard delivery hours are 8 am-5 pm, Monday – Friday. If your receiving hours differ, Jamestown must be informed prior to your order shipping from our facility. Otherwise, if the carrier arrives between their standard hours and you are unable to receive the shipment, redelivery fees will apply.

LTL carriers do not call ahead to schedule a delivery appointment. If a delivery appointment is needed, this service is available for an additional $35.

How We Package

At Jamestown Advanced Products, we take great care to ensure your order is packaged securely and arrives in excellent condition.

For LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) and full truckload shipments, all products are palletized for stability and ease of handling. Each item is carefully inspected before being securely shrink-wrapped and banded to the pallet. When needed, we apply “Do Not Stack” tape to help prevent damage during transit.

Our packaging process is designed to minimize the risk of damage and ensure that your products leave our facility and arrive at your location safely and intact.

Most products are shipped unassembled to reduce the risk of freight damage and improve shipping efficiency. Assembly and installation instructions are available on our website at www.JamestownAdvanced.com or can be provided by your sales representative upon request.

Please note: depending on the size of your order, pallets containing lumber may weigh up to 3,000 lbs. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure appropriate equipment and personnel are available to safely unload the shipment upon delivery.

Pickup Policy

Jamestown Advanced Products will schedule a pickup with customers prior to order completion. New York State sales tax applies to customer pickup orders unless a valid New York State sales tax exemption is provided.

Packaging of Pickup Orders: Pickup orders will be packed as standard, unless otherwise specified.

Pickup Vehicle: The vehicle picking up an order must be appropriate. Examples of an inappropriate vehicle include:

 
1. Too small a vehicle for the amount of items being picked up.
2. Any vehicle lacking sufficient wall height to properly secure the load.

We reserve the right to refuse the release of merchandise to any pickup party utilizing a vehicle deemed inappropriate by Jamestown Advanced Products.

Shipping Damages

Customers are required to inspect all shipments at the time of delivery. Any visible shipping damage must be noted on the delivery slip before signing for the shipment.

All shipping damage claims must be reported to Jamestown Advanced Products within five (5) business days of delivery. Failure to document visible damage at the time of delivery or to report concealed damage within this time frame may impact your ability to file a claim.

Please note that Jamestown Advanced Products will not be responsible for any charges incurred as a result of the customer hiring an outside service contractor to repair, alter, or inspect any of our products without prior written approval. Unauthorized third-party service charges will not be reimbursed.
